Scenario

01

An Organisation conducts an Effective License Position (ELP) using Microsoft SCCM as its primary source of data. They find they have 14,790 devices, and 12,000 installations of the relevant software, therefore a license position is created and the company believes they are in compliance.

This is a demonstration of missed revenue for the service provider and potential mismanagement of the environment. Through AirTrack the service provider can identify an opportunity to uplift the accuracy of the CMDB and to further drive improvements in operational efficiencies.

The managed service provider can use AirTrack ongoing to ensure that the quality of information in the CMDB is maintained and automate the identification of data issues and remediation (e.g. CIs without environment information; owner, location etc.) The result is less “man hours” spent reconciling data from many sources and manual reporting on CMDB accuracy.

Scenario

02

A managed service provider is billing a customer based on the number of CIs managed in the CMDB. An AirTrack analysis was undertaken and 2315 desktops and 495 servers (2810 CIs in total) were identified as not currently being managed in the CMDB.
